About the Wellbeing Economy Alliance Aotearoa

The Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll) is the leading global collaboration that brings together organisations, individuals and governments to transform the economic system into one that prioritises dignity, purpose, nature, fairness and participation. A Wellbeing Economy is one that delivers social justice on a healthy planet.

WEAII is currently made up of 300+ organisations, alliances, and movements, 2,800 individuals, 150 academics, and 88 ambassadors and spokespeople across all continents. It is pan-political and works to amplify good ideas and examples from across the globe.

WEAll’s ambassadors include Kate Raworth, author of Doughnut Economics, Tim Jackson, thought leader and Director of the Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP) and Jason Hickel, author of The Divide: A Brief Guide to Global Inequality and its Solutions and Less is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World. Our global policy makers network has over 40 participants and the Wellbeing Economy Governments Partnership (WEGo) initiated by WEAll is now composed of six governments, including a G7 country. It has established hubs in 15 states.

The WEAll Aotearoa New Zealand Hub is a charitable trust and works to advance new knowledge, narratives and connections towards a Wellbeing Economy. The work is led by lifelong change-maker and former Member of Parliament Gareth Hughes. WEAll Aotearoa collaborated internationally to craft the Wellbeing Policy Design Guide which was trialled in Porirua, New Zealand. WEAll Aotearoa works with central and local government and community bodies, and hosted Economic Development New Zealand’s award for wellbeing outcomes.

The WEAll Aotearoa Hub has been active hosting webinars and events across Aotearoa, commenting in the media and speaking at conferences.
