Tim Wilkinson
University of Otago, Dunedin
Professor Tim Wilkinson is professor of medicine and medical education at Otago Medical School, University of Otago, New Zealand, where he also continues to practice as a geriatrician. Throughout his career he has combined clinical medicine with a passion for improving how health professionals learn in the workplace. His research spans assessment, workplace learning, supervision, professional identity and the influence of organisational culture on clinical education. He has published widely, held editorial roles with leading medical education journals, and worked with universities, health services and accreditation bodies internationally. Tim is particularly interested in helping educators look beyond individual learners to understand how learning is shaped by the environments in which people work.
Laura Newhouse
Starship Hospital, Auckland
Laura is a Paediatric Registrar and recent Fellow with the Douglas Starship Simulation Programme at Starship Hospital, Auckland. After graduating from the University of Bristol in the UK in 2013, she spent nine years training and working in Paediatrics before swapping the UK for New Zealand with her young family in early 2022. She is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and an Advanced Paediatric Life Support Instructor. Research interests focus on human factors, psychological safety, and approaches to engaging reluctant participants in simulation-based education.
Victoria Brazil
Bond University, Gold Coast
Prof Victoria Brazil is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of the Simulation Service at Gold Coast Health, and leads the Bond University Translational Simulation Collaborative. Victoria’s main interests are in connecting education with patient care - through translational simulation in healthcare, and in developing high performing healthcare teams. Victoria is Senior Editor at Advances in Simulation and co-producer of Simulcast, a podcast about healthcare simulation.
Eve Purdy
Bond University and Gold Coast Hospital, Gold Coast
Eve is an Emergency Physician, educator, and researcher at Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service and Assistant Professor at Bond University. She works across clinical care, simulation, and team science, leading innovative approaches to training and research. Her work focuses on team performance under stress, translational simulation, and building capacity through collaborative education.
