How I do it Session

Kia ora colleagues,

One of the biggest benefits of Urology training in New Zealand is the ability to learn and work with different urologists around the country. Our trainees get to observe how we communicate, interact, how we operate and practice to eventually amalgamate or integrate it into their own repertoire for independent practice.

We know, from our personal experiences that there have been many “pearls” that were passed along to us during our training and this year, we would like to invite you to share your “pearls” with all of us at the NZ Sectional meeting!

We would like to invite you to submit a 10 minute presentation on “How I do it?”

This need not be: “How I do this operation.” It may be:-

  • “How I counsel patients with …”
  •  “How/Why I do this during procedure X..”
  •  “This algorithm works because..”-
  •  “Why I use this instrument / technique..”
  •  “I have learnt that ..”
  •  “The worse thing you could do is …”

It is time to be creative and share your pearls with us. It is not about boosting anyone’s ego, but rather, for our collective improvement and education, particularly during these challenging times.

The presentation can be in the form of a PowerPoint, narrated video, diagrams/drawings, speech, role play or whatever you feel most appropriate. Please forward your submission ideas to rachelle@fp2.co.nz by 20 July 2021.

We look forward to your submissions!

Warm regards

Eva Fong and Jason Du
