Karlee Johnston

Karlee is a senior lecturer in pharmacology and professionalism and leadership in the Australian National University School of Medicine and Psychology.  She is a pharmacist by background and has worked as a specialist clinical pharmacist in critical care for more than 15 years and continues to work clinically.  Karlee completed her PhD on burnout in pharmacists in 2023, and she continues to research burnout and interventions to improve wellbeing in healthcare professionals.

Annie Egan

Annie is an ICU pharmacist who has practiced in NZ, Australia, and the UK for 30 years. She has been involved in the teaching and training of ICU pharmacists in New Zealand and Australia and is a Fellow of the NZHPA. Annie has worked on the ANZICS ICU minimum workforce standards project, is a member of the ANZICS ICU Clinical Leadership faculty and the Te Waipounamu Critical Care Network. Annie is the Critical Care Allied Health Educator for Te Waipounamu. Her focus is to assist in leading and developing a critical care workforce that enhances the support into intensive care.

Fionnuala Fagan

Dr. Fionnuala Fagan is a haematologist with special interest in coagulation, bleeding, non-malignant haematology, education, and regional medicine. She holds a B.Med from the University of Newcastle (2006) and is a fellow of  Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). Dr. Fagan is the clinical lead at Dunedin Haematology Department and serves on the editorial team of the Pomegranate podcast and the RACP Curriculum Review Group for Haematology Advanced Training.

Truc Nguyen

Truc obtained his under graduate degree from the University of Otago, and obtained his Masters from Monash University via Melbourne. He further extended his scope of practice by completing the Pharmacist prescriber certificate from the University of Auckland and currently works at Middlemore hospital in Auckland. Truc has over 17 years working in Critical Care with five of those years being a pharmacist prescriber in the Intensive care and Surgical setting.

Chris Paton

Dr Chris Paton is the director of the post-graduate digital health programme at the University of Otago and is a Clinical Researcher at the University of Oxford in the UK. His research investigates the use of digital health technologies for improving healthcare services, such as AI-based clinical decision support systems, electronic health records, and virtual reality simulation training.

Michael Pead

Michael Pead is the Chief Executive of the Pharmacy Council – Te Pou Whakamana Kaimatū o Aotearoa.  He has vast experience in public sector reform, policy development (particularly housing and education policy), regulatory design and application, and implementation and operationalisation of policy.  Michael has held senior roles at Treasury, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Ernst & Young consulting and co-founded an international consulting practice. His depth of experience in regulation includes economic, social, and occupational regulation.  He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and is a member of ICANZ and the Institute of Directors.

Amy Peng

Amy Peng is the Pharmacist Team Leader for Surgical Services at Te Whatu Ora Waitematā. Amy started her hospital training at Hawkes Bay hospital where she gained clinical experience in General Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery and Older adults. During this time she also completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy. Since being back in Auckland she’s been working at North shore hospital where she has specialised in surgery and intensive care.

Adam Pomerleau

Adam is a medical/clinical toxicologist and emergency medicine specialist. He has been the Director of the National Poisons Centre, which is based at the University of Otago in Dunedin, since 2017. He regularly provides telephone consultations to healthcare professionals across the country treating poisoned patients in every setting, from outpatient to ICU, as part of the NPC’s 24/7 service and liaises with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple sectors to provide clinical toxicology expertise. Adam also works occasional clinical shifts in the ED at Dunedin Hospital.

Natalia Taurima-Hinton is the Pharmacy Council’s Senior Advisor, Māori Health and Equity. She is leading the development and implementation of Council’s Māori, and health equity programme which focusses on te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety, cultural competence, and Hauora Māori. Natalia has a background in the criminal justice sector as a public servant and in a restorative facilitation role, working with victims and offenders of sexual and family violence.  She managed the reintegration unit on the outside of Hawkes Bay prison, and worked in Baltimore and New York with black youth, Russian and Jewish communities, and a prisoner on death row.

Sherry Yeh

Sherry is a senior clinical pharmacist at Te Whatu Ora Waitematā. Her experience in clinical pharmacy began at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim, during which she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. Sherry has worked across different specialties in Waitematā. As part of the Medication Safety team at Waitematā, Sherry is involved in a multitude of projects to help improve patient safety, minimise harm, and promote equitable outcomes across the motu.
